To say that we are fans of The Walking Dead would be an understatement. We have been all-in since the beginning & stuck through to the end, which has finally come to pass. Here’s a look back at some of the one-on-one fun we’ve had with members of the cast throughout the years.

There’s nothing like a quick road trip to reinvigorate your soul. Our latest day trip was the 3-hour trek to Crater Lake National Park to visit the park & what is known as the deepest lake in the U.S. Crater Lake was formed from a massive volcanic eruption. The lake is a captivating blue & is fed solely by rain & snow.
It was quite a fantastic sight to see! We started by making a stop at Rim Village & walked along the scenic self-guided walk. We thoroughly enjoyed the panoramic view from the Sinnot Memorial Overlook. We were limited as to what we could do because we visited on the last day of the season for the lodge.
You can drive or bike around the rim, which has various scenic overlooks. We stopped at quite a few of these spots. There’s an off-shoot that’s a few miles off the main rim drive that will take you to see The Pinnacles. We contemplated whether or not we wanted to make the quick detour & are so glad we did. There’s a place to park & you can see some of the structures from the parking lot or walk the quick path (less than half a mile) to the main viewing area.
While there are many hikes you can do, we chose to hike the Cleetwood Cove Trail, the one trail that leads from the rim to the water. It is a good, clear path that is a 2.2-mile round trip; however, it could be challenging for some, especially the return trip back up to the parking area. We stopped & took many breaks on the way back up. You definitely want to grab your water bottle for this one to stay hydrated, but it is definitely worth the trek down.

There are so many fun things to do in Eugene-Springfield & the surrounding areas, so our family has been enjoying going on adventures around town. Our latest trek brought us to the Camas Country Mill Store & Bakery in Junction City.
Our daughter Emmie has been baking since she was tall enough to stand on a chair at the counter next to her Grandma & me. I grew up learning to bake from my mom & my Yaya, who had a special method to make her dinner rolls so light & delicious. I love that Emmie is into trying different things & experimenting with a variety of baking techniques, so we thought she’d love to see a mill & its’ bakery to explore her baking passion.
The Camas Country Mill Store & Bakery is quaint with various delectable treats. We purchased the Camas Classic Bread Blend, along with a freshly baked loaf of Buttermilk Bread, which is quite possibly the best tasting & textured loaf bread that we have ever eaten. If you love baking, this will be your playground with so many varieties of flours to experiment with.
We arrived very late in the day, so they were sold out of all of their other treats, so a follow-up visit is definitely in the cards for us. With that being said, it is wise to arrive early in the day to get your bakery goods.
Quite possibly the best part of Camas Country Mill Store & Bakery is owners Sue & Tom Hunton (aka Ma & Pa.) They are such lovely people. We enjoyed spending some time with Sue, who gave us a history of the mill & bakery, the adorable school house on the grounds (which originally was built about 2 miles away), how it came to be relocated to their farm & how they’ve gently restored it.
Camas Country Mill & Bakery is a must-visit!

Looking for something to do that’s fun AND unusual? Our family recently visited an alpaca farm & had a blast!
The idea came to us after we were out exploring & saw some farms in the area. Chadd did some googling & discovered Aragon Alpacas in Eugene. He contacted Annie, who owns the farm along with her husband, and set up an appointment for us to visit.
Annie is so delightful & taught us a lot about alpacas. We got to walk through the field with them. They were very quiet, yet curious. We loved getting to meet & spend a quiet afternoon with them. If you’d like to visit, you need to make an appointment through the Aragon Alpacas website. There’s a bunch of info on their site. It’s free to book a visit, but you can offer a donation as a thank you for Annie’s time showing you around and telling you her story of becoming an alpaca farmer and all about her adorable alpacas.

What a great day to get outside & enjoy all of the fun at Greenhill Humane Society’s Bark in the Park fundraiser. The weather cooperated, the runners/walkers were ready to go & there were many tails a waggin’. The best part is that there was a lot of money raised–over $90,000–to help support all of the services that Greenhill Humane Society provides to so many animals every year. Here are a few photos from the event. And you can still make a donation on their Bark in the Park page on their website.
